This past February Platinum Events Group had the pleasure of traveling to Grand Cayman.
While touring about the luxurious island the first thing I noticed was how accessible everything was. The roads are properly paved and there is plenty of signage so it is very easy to find your way around. Our first stop where we stayed was at the fabulous Caribbean Club. This is where Platinum Events Group set up camp for four days and where we called home for the duration of our trip. The Caribbean Club is located on the pristine 7-mile beach; all thirty-seven spacious villas are complete with three-bedroom, three-bathroom living room, kitchen, and a breath taking view of the ocean. From the Caribbean Club we spent the next four days touring Grand Cayman learning all the secrets of this stunning destination!
Spending time on-island got my creative senses going so naturally I had put together my perfect Cayman destination wedding… Here it goes!
My wedding experience starts with the rehearsal dinner taking place at the relaxing Cayman Kai, located just north east of 7-mile beach. Picture a tropical Gilligan’s Island oasis complete with palm trees, hammocks, and of course beautiful Caribbean beach. Your guests will walk into a lantern lit beach where a grilled feast of the Caribbean’s finest foods will be served along with the island finest rum and beverages. As the night comes to an end you and your guests will take a short walk down to the beach where there will be multiple luxurious villas for everyone to enjoy and a get a well needed good nights sleep.
The wedding day begins with a morning stroll on the beach and a breakfast filled with fresh Caribbean fruit, traditional Johnnycakes, breadfruit, and ackee. After a morning of being pampered and getting ready for your special day you arrive at the historical site of Pedro’s Castle. Pedro’s Castle is located on the coastal part of the island where the water is a striking cobalt blue and the sun is setting over the island. The ceremony will take place outside on the grounds amongst the beautiful gardens under a majestic gazebo that will be cascading with Caymans tropical array of flowers. As you walk down the aisle a breath taking view in white your groom will be simply mesmerized.
The reception will take place on the grounds of Pedro’s Castle where guests will be showed into a unique transparent tent that is complete with air conditioning (yes they have it on-island!). The tent will be decorated with fresh white linens, bright pinks and orange floral and gold chiavari chairs. The lighting will be supplied by the moon lit sky and the many candles arranged around the tent. The grounds surrounding the tent with be romantically lit with lanterns some hanging from the Manzanita trees. As the even wines down everyone will be transported back to their villa’s in Cayman Kai.
The post wedding celebration will take place at the stunning Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman right on 7-mile beach. My guests will be treated to a fabulous and luxurious afternoon brunch lounging on day beds set atop the soft white sand and crystal blue water.
I hope this has painted a picture for you! I chose Cayman Kai for the rehearsal dinner and location for accommodation because of its unique, rustic Caribbean elegance and quaintness. Cayman Kai is peaceful offering the perfect setting for a destination wedding celebration, but it’s also close enough to access nightly entertainment. Cayman Kai caters to everyone’s needs. Pedro’s Castle was selected because of its versatility of the land and the stunning grounds. Pedro’s Castle also has a very interesting historical background perfect for the likes of history buffs. On the grounds an actual castle sits where many Caymanian politicians have stayed. Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman for my post-wedding celebration is an absolute MUST after a late night of partying under the stars nothing says luxury and relaxation like this property… And have I mentioned they have incredible Mango Mojito’s? Perfect for a signature cocktail for sure!
I found some additional intriguing facts on my visit… First is the weather I don’t think I ever saw a cloud in the sky (in February!), it was sunny and warm virtually every day, and that Cayman blue water is always right there to cool you down. Another great part about Cayman is the affordability. Many associate the Cayman Islands with being very expensive but it really doesn’t have to be. Just think you can have full-sized suites complete with kitchenettes ranging less than $200 CDN a day! Groceries are not overall expensive either I found that prices were similar to that of Toronto’s stores. Transportation is also excellent on-island! Taxi-cabs are very easy to find and priced reasonably and renting a car is just as easy as renting in North America.
Overall my visit to Cayman Islands is one I will not forget and would highly recommend it to any of my clients in search of a memorable & unique destination wedding!
