What made you start your own business?
I was never quite fulfilled in my career working for someone else. By having my own business I knew that I would be the one in charge of my own future, my income and ultimately my job satisfaction. I could see that there was nothing else in the market place like my style for invitations and Laura K Design was born. And the rest – as they say– is history!
If you had to start over what one thing would you do differently?
I would have taken some business classes or gotten help writing a business plan when I first started.
What’s your favorite, can’t-work-with-out, item? My Mac!
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t be too busy working in your business that you forget to work on your business.
Which two people (past or present) would you like to meet over coffee and why?
My Bestemor (grandmother in Danish). She passed away when I was about 3 and she didn’t speak English so even when she did visit us we couldn’t communicate. Since living in Copenhagen for 2 years several years ago I can now speak Danish and I would love to have a conversation with her.
Chantal Kreviazuk. I’ve been a huge fan of hers since I saw her open for Amanda Marshall at Ontario Place many, many years ago. I’ve seen her in concert at least 4 times. I love hearing her sing with just her piano – it gives me goose bumps. I find her inspiring as an artist, mother and survivor. She was in a terrible accident years ago and it was an event that changed her life – we have that in common.
In five words how would you sum up your personality, style, company brand?
Modern, Bold, Colourful, Urban, Outgoing
What would you like your clients to come away saying about you?
“Laura is creative, easy to work with and made the process of designing our invitations so much fun!”
What are your three favorite blogs besides your own and platinumeventsgroup.com?
