What made you start your own business?
I’ve always wanted to start my own business because I like being challenged and wanted the opportunity to utilize my creativity, have flexibility and be in control while helping others.
I started Little Party-Goers because I wanted to solve the number one question that is often asked when planning or attending an event: “what about the children”? It was simple; I would provide a fun and unique event child care service! I love working with children while allowing their parents to enjoy their night.
For me it’s not about babysitting children, it’s about creating memories, while the children have a little party of their own!
If you had to start over what one thing would you do differently?
I think I would have taken some finance classes as there’s so much involved when starting your own business that is important to know from the beginning. Even though I never took any business/finance classes, it’s been a fun learning experience. I’ve been lucky to have a great accountant, awesome friends and a savvy father to help me out!
What’s your favorite, can’t-work-with-out, item?
My computer and blackberry, I would be completely lost without both as 95% of my work is all done through emails and phone calls.
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?
The key to success is to be fearless. Don’t be afraid to ask, to take chances or to risk being turned down. Roll with the punches and get back up.
Which two people (past or present) would you like to meet over coffee and why?
Oprah, I absolutely love her! I think she’s a great business woman who has done extremely well for herself considering she wasn’t born into money. I love how she continues to help others…I would have many questions to ask her.
My grandmother is another person I would have liked to have met. I’ve heard we have many similar characteristics and she was a very strong, independent woman who endured a lot in her life.
In five words how would you sum up your personality, style, company brand?
Creative, fun, caring, trusting & unique!
What would you like your clients to come away saying about you?
My child had an amazing time and so did I! For me, that’s the biggest compliment, it’s a reflection of me and my service. I love hearing from parents, children, event planners and hosts that our service made their day extra special and more enjoyable!
